I am 100,000% (in Chileano) in love with this place and everyone here, starting with the snow-capped mountains I could see from the plane ride. My expectations have been blown away-- I didn't expect to fall in love with EVERYTHING so immediately. It was truly love at first sight! For starters, I was paired with the perfect host family. They are super health nuts (just like me) so the vegetarian diet has been a complete non-issue, and I've already been to the gym with Moira as well as introduced her to yoga! Mami cooks the most delicious food I've ever tasted from scratch with fresh produce, and we all drink tea and take herbs + supplements every day! We're definitely going to be sharing lots of recipes.  ❤ I can tell already that this is will be a lifelong friendship. We have SO MUCH in common, from clothing style to anxious habits to taste in food. They're natural hippie-types just like me with an extensive incense collection and little buddhas scattered around... And they don't stay up until 1 AM like we were all warned about, Thank God.
I'm also impressed with everything about the Colegio Concepci贸n!! My teacher, Cecilia, is AMAZING and everything I could hope to become. She's bilingual, she reaches out to the more difficult students, she cares about her students with a passion and they reciprocate with the same love and respect. Upper-classmen who she doesn't have in her class anymore stop her in the hallway for hugs and the younger kids (5th and 6th grade) flock around her like little baby ducklings at all hours of the day. She also has dynamic, innovative lessons and methods to keep the students engaged and she makes even the younger classes communicate orally in English as much as possible, which is extremely important. I've learned tons from Cecilia already. Also, I love that I started interacting with her students from the very first day. I wasn't shy (or at least, I didn't let it show and I pushed through it immediately), so I was able to answer questions and help the students right away. I've been reading aloud to the class, creating lessons, leading discussions, making corrections, and all that fun stuff. The students are also awesome and super impressive! Overall I think it's safe to say I'm ready to move here. 馃槀 (But, seriously)
